Privacy Policy

KidPin ("we") is a map app that helps parents find places that are good to visit with children. The family information about places comes from parents' reports. This policy explains what we collect when you use the KidPin app and its web pages, how we use it, and how you can delete it.
What we collect
- Account: your nickname and the email address your sign-in provider gives us, if any. KidPin has no passwords.
- Sign in with Apple, Google or LINE: the identifier of your account with that provider, and the email address and name it returns. A LINE account may have no email address; you can use KidPin without one. With Sign in with Apple we keep Apple's authorization token, encrypted, only to revoke it with Apple when you delete your account or unlink Apple. We do not collect phone numbers.
- Your reports: the place (its Google place ID), the category you chose, your answers (for example high chairs, changing tables, play areas), the date you visited, your note, and a place name or opening hours you type in yourself; the history of changes to your answers.
- Saved places, reports of notes and blocks: the places you save, the notes you report and why, and the parents you block (used only to hide their notes from you; they are not told and cannot see who blocked them).
- Place coordinates: when a parent taps a categorized place on the map, we keep the coordinate of that place for up to 30 days to show markers on the map (adding a coordinate requires signing in; a tap while signed out only extends how long an existing one is kept). It is the place's position, not yours, and it is not linked to your account.
- Technical data: our server records IP addresses (to limit excessive requests and prevent abuse), the type of device you signed in on (for example iPhone) and when it was last used, to keep the service running and secure.
What we do not collect
- Your location: if you allow it, the app uses your iPhone's location to move the map near you and show distances to places. Your location is used only on your iPhone; it is never sent to our server, and we do not record where you go. Reports never include a location.
- Contacts, photos or advertising identifiers. We use no third-party analytics or advertising tools.
How we use it
Only to run KidPin: signing you in, turning parents' reports into family information about places, showing markers on the map, letting you see and change your own reports and saved places, and keeping the service safe (for example against spam or abuse). We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or track you across other apps or websites.
Who can see it
- Other parents see the combined family information about a place (for example how many parents reported and when it was last confirmed) and content such as notes, place names and opening hours, but never who reported it. They cannot see your nickname or email.
- Only you see your nickname, email, sign-in methods, your own reports and your saved places.
- Service providers: our server is hosted by a cloud hosting provider; Apple, Google and LINE handle the sign-in method you choose; the map is provided by Google Maps, and Google handles data about your use of the map under its own privacy policy.
- We disclose data when the law requires it.
Supporting KidPin (in-app purchases)
Payments are handled entirely by Apple. We never receive your payment details, and our server does not record them.
Data on your iPhone
Your sign-in token is kept in the iPhone keychain, and the app's settings (language, theme and so on) are kept on your iPhone. Signing out removes the token; deleting the app removes the settings.
Keeping and deleting data
- We keep your data until you delete it. You can delete your account in the app under Settings → Account → Delete account. This deletes your account, your reports (they no longer count toward a place's information, which is recalculated), notes, change history, saved places, reports of notes, blocks, sign-in methods and sign-in tokens, and revokes Sign in with Apple. This cannot be undone.
- Place coordinates are nobody's personal data and are deleted automatically after at most 30 days.
- If you cannot use the app, email us to ask for deletion.
- Data in backups and technical logs is overwritten or deleted after a limited time.
Security
All connections between the app and our server are encrypted with HTTPS. Other parents always stay anonymous: public data contains no user identifiers, nicknames or email addresses.
Children
KidPin is made for parents. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
